Environmental Art is a growing field in the visual arts and is a great way to connect with our natural world while also being creative and having fun outside!

Participants will be making several environmental works of art by utilizing natural elements near their homes while also learning about the growing field of environmental art. Then, there will be a second group conversation with the teachers and all available participants at the end of the festival. No experience necessary and all ages welcome!

ABOUT THE TEACHERS

Lisa Beth Robinson & Kristin Thielking

Lisa Beth Robinson and Kristin Thielking are artists, educators, and collaborators located in eastern North Carolina and Central Wisconsin. In addition to their own creative practices, the two are members of Catching a Wave international, an interdisciplinary collaborative to create public awareness about ocean health and climate change.

Kristin Thielking is a sculptor and the Professor of Art and Design at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She obtained a BA in Fine Art and Comparative Literature from Brown University in Rhode Island as well as an MFA in Sculpture from UW-Madison. She has also taught at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, UW-Madison, and Penland School of Crafts and has exhibited and presented on her work widely. Learn more about Kristin here.

Lisa Beth Robinson is a book-maker and poet. She is an Associate Professor of Art at East Carolina University and has received degrees from the Johnston Center at the University of Redlands and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is the proprietor of Somnambulist Tango Press and her work has been purchased by institutions such as the New York Public Library, Emory University, Yale University, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
